“Animal Farm” by George Orwell.
One Word Review: Caustic!
Less than 100 pages, Animal Farm is an amusing Novel and the perfect choice for starters to begin with. The book is an epitome of Symbolism and portrays Dictatorship in the most astonishing way. The metaphors of working class, elite class, and opportunists are simply fascinating.
What happens when a society is given freedom to which it is unprepared for? How does corruption and graft diffuse into a community in unison? And how does the dictators hold the supreme reign over the majority by exploiting the individual‘s patriotism?
Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals.
Answering all these questions in a short novel, Animal Farm gives you more than a story to take away. If you are looking for a book to read when you are travelling then Animal Farm is a great contender.
