Pages: 191

One word review: Absorbing!

Did you know?

The content of this whole books is narrated in a set of questions and answers format.

The Power of Now is a self-help book on understanding the nuances of life that we have missed or failed to figure out. It was recommended to me by one of my colleagues and the feedback was that it was the greatest book she had ever read. This caught my attention and I decided to go for it.

The initial pages gave me an impression that the content would be nothing but superficial information and platitude delineated. But as the chapters progressed I became deeply engrossed with what the author was trying to point out and ruminated about it. The author has been kind and generous in providing the readers a route map, to read the book at a suggested pace and stop at pre-destined spots so that the readers can deliberate about what they have read so far.

Favorite lines from the Book:

The very thing that gives you pleasure today will give you pain tomorrow, or it will leave you, so its absence will give you pain.

One must try to understand the deeper meaning conveyed through simple statements by the author. And to aid this process the author has narrated the book in a Q/A format similar to verbatim of a presentation or seminar session. At first it was absurd but then over time it became advantageous in reading the particular subject in such a format.

Egoic mind has become like a sinking ship. If you don't get off, you will go down with it.

Various topics such as pain, suffering, ego, true consciousness, how to live at the present naturally, and many more esoteric discussions are explicated by the author in the most fascinating fashion that is clear cut even to a layman. I suggest the readers of this book to not just read but peruse through it and if necessary take notes from it. This book is one valid and significant subject that we have missed out in our school education right from childhood.

Every piece of meat I have is the best. There is no piece of meat here that is not the best.

Verdict: A must-read book in your lifetime!
