Book Review #6: 1984

Updated: Oct 9, 2020

"1984" by George Orwell

One word review: Doleful!

Did you know?

The story in this novel has an unique vernacular which became very popular as soon as the book was published.

Published in 1949 and depicting a fictional world in the 1980's, 1984 is a dystopian science fiction novel which presaged the World's becoming way ahead of it's time. The story is filled with symbolism, dictatorship, and totalitarianism.

1984's world opens up with a reclusive protagonist's perception who is signified as the common man in the future. And page by page you get into this world without even realizing it. You'll find it amazing on how life has become in this world; the working of the government, the interactions between people, the nature of jobs, the distinctions between different classes and so on.

And when the story begins you have been exposed to the world so much that you'll find yourself as the protagonist. The story is fantabulous in it's own way and throws surprises at you when you least expect. What I liked the most about this book was that it gives you an everlasting impression and you are absorbed in it's world for a long time. I am planning to read this book for a second time.

WAR IS PEACE FREEDOM IS SLAVERY IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

Well, 1984 was an inspiration for my short story 2100. Please do check it out if you like 1984.

Verdict: Just get into 1984.
