Did you know?

This film is the second adaptation of the 1980 novel of the same name. The previously adapted film released in 1983 also had the same title.

Man on Fire is an action thriller. The movie is emotional and incisive in the art of story telling. In a nutshell, the movie is a revenge story and is fierce in it's action sequences. The well established character arc for the protagonist is a great boon to the movie and Denzel Washington has ruled the role.

The story is set up beautifully in the first act, with a wonderful relationship budding up. Once the inciting incident kicks in, which is almost after an hour, the story picks pace. The ensuing revenge sequences are stacked one after the other with surprising twists that you might find difficult to comprehend. Do mind that the film is over two hours in length. So, you are in for a long ride.

I must mention the character arc about the protagonist role which is well written. It is an emotional journey for the hero, a transformation that he badly needs. The revenge gives our hero the purpose to live and he holds on to it firmly as he unleashes a savage attack on the villains. And Denzel Washington has the portrayed the role in his own style, adding more color to the film. The editing and sound mixing stands out with it's distinctive elegance and idiosyncrasy.

Favorite Movie Quote:

Forgiveness is between them and God. My job is to set up the meeting.

If you're a fan of Denzel, Man on Fire should be on top of your list. He was really on fire, with his performance in the movie.

Verdict: An Action Packed Stylish Revenge Story!
