The Deer Hunter is a majestic, war drama film that may test your patience with it's runtime of over three hours but it is phenomenal in taking you on an sublime adventure along with the protagonist.
The movie kicks starts with a grandeur opening sequence that is tantamount to The Godfather movie and immediately you’ll feel you have made the right choice in watching this film. About one hour in length, the opening sequence serves as a great platform to expose the lead and supporting characters and takes you into the life of a small town filled with camaraderie.
And then in the second act, you are transported to a different zeitgeist of war and violence invoking your sympathy. Watching the movie through the eyes of protagonist makes you doleful with this sudden turn of events.
The cast has given their performances with sheer brilliance. We laugh when they laugh, and we cry when they cry. The story is put together in a coherent and intriguing way making us forget time and indulging into it’s world.
