Pan's Labyrinth is a Spanish language fantasy drama film. The story that is set in the period of World War II follows the adventures of a little girl and a conjoining fairy tale. The screenplay is slowly paced with enigmatic setting and characters, making the film pleasurable and engrossing to watch.

Our protagonist is a small girl and the callous antagonist is a sadistic human. The adventures of the protagonist is the major plot while the movie does present an interesting sub plot to personify the antagonist in the most despicable form. The cardinal plot with it's fairy tale touch will surely have it's own audience; children. In fact, we can categorize this movie as a children's film.


But Captain, to obey, just like that, for obedience's sake... without questioning... That's something only people like you do.

Now, a question may arise, what makes the movie interesting to watch for an adult? Well, there is certainly the element of mystery in the movie that makes its quite captivating. Additionally, fantasy genre is a popular theme loved by all and Pan's Labyrinth has made use of it in a mystic manner. The screenplay is slow but not monotonous. All the characters are intriguing to watch and the interactions among the characters are indeed amusing.


You're getting older, and you'll see that life isn't like your fairy tales. The world is a cruel place. And you'll learn that, even if it hurts.

With a mysterious tone and fairy tale wound along a period drama, this fantasy fable is surely an visual treat for all ages especially children.
