: the capability of a strained body to recover its size and shape after deformation caused especially by compressive stress
...The first meaning of the word 'resilience' as per Merriam-Webster dictionary.
Oh, is there a second meaning? I hear you!
: an ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change
Ah, this is meant to be a poem. I hear myself!
Not, when you destroy a spider's web,
Only to see it rebuilt within days.
Not, when you watch lizards scurry away,
Yet even the young ones grow accustomed to your presence.
Not, when you randomly wake at midnight,
Astonished to spot cockroaches,
Still surviving in your home.
Not, when you hear birds chirp,
Warning or a joyful news?
Wondering what they mean.
Not, when you persist in trivial tasks,
Again and again, day after day,
Each day just slightly different from the last.
Rajinikanth, Amitabh,
Marie Curie, JK Rowling,
Federer, Jordan,
Steve Jobs, Lincoln.
Whoever it may be,
Not, when you watch your heroes fall,
Only to rise sooner than expected.
Not, when you achieve a goal
You never set out to reach.
Not, when you read this.
You will only understand,
Every individual is a superhero,
Pronouns inclusive,
When you discover resilience,
On your own.
Isn't that the essence of evolution?
So, carry on! On and on!
