Movie Suggestion #20: Heat (1995)

Heat (1995)

Al Pacino | Robert De Niro

One word review: Eccentric!

Disclaimer: No spoilers ahead.

IMDB: 8.2

Did you know?

Heat was the first film where Al Pacino and Robert De Niro had scenes together. Previously, they had acted in The Godfather II.

Heat is an action thriller film with a star studded cast. The story is a typical cat and mouse game between the cops and the robber gang but the screenplay is anew. In fact the way the story is presented makes it quite distinguishing from other films of same genre.

Favorite Movie Quotes:

I do what I do best: I take scores. You do what you do best: Try to stop guys like me.

One distinctive quality about Robert De Niro's character in most of his movies is, he is a man of scruples. Be it the great Godfather or the ordinary Score, he is a man who lives by his own principles. Even in this movie he lives by his own principle and the failure to abide by it leads to his downfall. The movie has a lot of characters and the proper back stories to them build up the tension. We get to see scenes which are not predictive but rather unusual and this gives the movie a tinge of freshness.

Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner

When there is Al Pacino around, there are guns around him. And Heat is no exception. The shootout sequence at the midway of the movie was simply breathtaking and ferocious. It had me raise my expectations for a dramatic climax but I happen to witness only a decent ending. There are only two scenes where Al Pacino and Robert De Niro come together; one of them being the climax. The romantic life for both the lead actors created depth in their characters.

I say what I mean, and I do what I say.

With two of the greatest actors of all time, Heat stands as one of the best action thriller movies from Hollywood.

Verdict: Tune into this Superstardom Crime Drama!
