Did you know?
The movie is based on a novel of the same name by Cormac McCarthy.
No Country For Old Men is engrossing thriller movie. The story follows a good old cat and mouse chase game and is highly tensed due to the racy screenplay. The movie is set in the Wild West along the Mexican border and can be termed as a cowboy movie to a certain extent.
Favorite Movie Quotes:
1958. It's been traveling twenty-two years to get here. And now it's here. And it's either heads or tails. And you have to say. Call it.
The movie is event driven and hence is stacked with a set of unpredictable linear events. It is also a high concept theme wherein we are presented a what-if situation. The interesting aspect of the screenplay is that it is unpredictable; you do not know what's gonna happen next. There aren't any backstory development for any of the characters but the characterization is absolutely on the spot. Many questions loom around about the origins of the lead characters but the thrilling screenplay compensates.
Don't put it in your pocket, sir. Don't put it in your pocket. It's your lucky quarter.
The villain is terrifying, horrendous and is full of swag. Both Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin have done given commanding performance and is difficult to choose one best among them. And then there is Tommy Lee Jones, the Men In Black star, who is quite natural in his role and impressive. I haven't read the book but I can gauge that the Coen brothers, Joel and Ethan, the directors of the movie have justified the book and also got the best out of the cast.
What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss?
With swiftly paced screenplay and compelling performances from the cast, No Country For Old Men is an enchanting and engrossing thriller that is a must in your watchlist.
Verdict: Twice! That's how many times you'll watch this film minimum.
