Did you know?
The meaning of Oculus is a round or eye-like opening or design.
Oculus is a horror thriller movie that contains an enigmatic story presented in a refreshing fashion. What I loved about the movie is it's screenplay that holds the audience in tact and keeps them glued for most of the scenes.
Favorite Movie Quotes:
Hello again! You must be hungry.
Firstly, the story for this horror movie is centred around an object which you would make out when you see the poster. So, the Tom and Jerry game is between this malevolent object and the protagonists. And who ends up winning is the rest of the story. Similar to popular modern films, the narrations juggles between the past and the present which is interesting at the beginning but eventually becomes perplexing towards the end. This is a horror movie which is built on a solid story and not on jump scare scenes. Hence, if you were an aficionado of horror theme, you may not be satisfied with the number of scary scenes.
What do you mean we only have few days?
Coming to the performances of the actors, there are only two lead characters around whom the story revolves and a couple of characters built in the past sequences. I liked the combination of the two lead characters - one with active mentality and the other passive. The interactions between them sort of thrusted the movie forward whenever there was dull moments. And I must consent that there are certain points at which the movie takes a dip. However, the intriguing screenplay for the story doesn't let this movie down.
To keep our promise and kill it
There is one thing that I didn't like in the movie and it was the climax because it was not appeasing to me by any means and did not satiate my filmmaking hunger. Probably, the indifferent climax was the reason the rating of the film went below 7. Anyways, I watched this movie with a buddy and found it interesting and worthwhile. Nevertheless, I believe it would be more interesting if you watch it alone.
I've seen the devil, and he is me.
Verdict: A horror movie for the "Beginners" who's stepped into the genre!
